Aldo Mondino (Turin 1938 – Milan 2005) was one of the freest and most unpredictable Italian artists of the late twentieth century. A painter, sculptor and maker of installations, he used the most varied materials, from carpets to sugar, from linoleum to chocolate, with an irony that dismantles the certainties of art and plays with words and images.
He never wanted to belong to a movement: his travels in the East, in Morocco and Turkey, nourished a body of work always in motion, between play and meditation. The Archivio Aldo Mondino preserves and studies his work, reconstructs its exhibition history and issues certificates of authenticity.
